If indeed the changes in our culture since the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution that followed are what leave us so disconnected, then a new way of interacting with one another is inevitable as well as necessary. I am not suggesting falling back on old social codes, but shaping, directing, or creating entirely new ones. We must accept our condition and move on. We must embrace fragmentation to conquer it. The two most important elements learned from the objectification of entities which act or appear to be animate (in other words, robots and cyborgs) would be: 1. interaction without cultural relativity, and 2. the underscoring of our own humanity by redefining its opposite.
